WP1 SET-UP OF CONDITIONS AND TOOLS TO ENHANCE MATERIAL RECYCLABILITY

WP1: SET-UP OF CONDITIONS AND TOOLS TO ENHANCE MATERIAL RECYCLABILITY

Objectives:

To define epoxy resin and natural fibre requirements according, the composite production process, future applications and to the recycling process.

Description:

First work package concerns the set-up of conditions and tools to enhance material recyclability. As well as identify current additives used in epoxy resins/composites and to suggest substitutions and to find suitable microorganisms and enzymes able to degrade the epoxy resins and fibres.

WP2 DESIGN OF THERMOSET POLYMER WITH CAN AND OBTAINING NATURAL FIBRE

WP2: DESIGN OF THERMOSET POLYMER WITH CAN AND OBTAINING NATURAL FIBRE

Objectives:

To obtain thermoset resins with inherent recyclability and natural functionalized fibres.

Description:

In WP2 tailored lignin-based platform will be used to develop bio-based epoxy resins. Thermoset resins containing CAN (fossil and bio-based origin) will be developed. almost of 65% of the recovered epoxy resins after the recycling process will be re-enter into the value chain.

Lead: NIC
Support: ICSO, WR, CEL, WK+, AND, FEY

WP3 COMPOSITE PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES EVALUATION

WP3: COMPOSITE PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES EVALUATION

Objectives:

Verify the applicability of new material, through the design, manufacture, characterization and validation of the designed prototypes.

Description:

The WP3 involves the manufacturing of two demonstrators: one for sport equipment (scooter platform) and one for construction (such as window frame).

Partners involved:
Lead: CID
Support: WK+, AND, ECRT

WP4 COMPOSITE RECYCLING

WP4: COMPOSITE RECYCLING

Objectives:

To evaluate the recyclability of the composite materials developed in the project.

Description:

WP4 involves the recyclability of the resins. Composite materials will be prepared and evaluated, and an efficient recycling method will be developed to ensure maximum recovery of the fibre and matrix.

Lead: AND
Support: CID, NIC, ICSO, WR, CEL, WK+, AND, IDE, FEY, ECRT, ULE, SINT

WP5 SAFETY & HEALTH ASSESMENT

WP5: SAFETY & HEALTH ASSESMENT

Objectives:

To evaluate the environmental degradation of the design bio-epoxy resins.

Description:

In this work package the safety and health assessment will be addressed by the evaluation of the degradation by-products and predicting toxicity and ecotoxicity of developed materials using quantitative structure-activity relationship models.

Partners involved:
Lead: ECRT
Support: CID, NIC, WR, CEL, AND, IDE, ECRT, FH-ISI, SINT

WP6 SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

WP6: SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
